Home for the Holidays
Hello and Happy New Year!
I made my trip home to Washington to celebrate Christmas and New Year's Eve with my family and it was nice and relaxing; getting away at the end of the year is just what I needed to regroup after some burnout and before I hit the ground running this month!
I started off the weekend by visiting my grandma and uncle in Tacoma, then spent Christmas Eve at home eating delicious food and watching the Seahawks game with my dad and brothers, and it started snowing! We opened up presents that night and then headed to my grandparents in Darrington Christmas Day for even more food and lots of laughs playing "Spoons" with them :) We did some shopping during the week, as well as going to the YMCA and bowling with my brothers while my parents worked. On Friday, we went to brunch at the coziest place in Mount Vernon called The Calico Cupboard and then finally went to see Star Wars-I loved it! New Year's Eve we went up to my grandparent's again during the day then came home, started a bonfire/roasting marshmallows and set off some fireworks and partied with the neighbor's that night :)
Some random facts about what I enjoy while home in Washington:
1. I get the best sleep of my life when I'm there; my family's house is on an island with the ocean on one side and woods on the other...so that means comfy bed, dark, quiet, and relaxing!
2. I love how gorgeous Washington is; trees everywhere, the ocean, and mountains! It does rain a bit in the winter but I love cozying up at home with a book listening to the sound of rain outside. When it's clear, roasting marshmallows by the bonfire and seeing nothing but stars is the best.
3. My skin completely clears up and my hair is softer, I attribute this to the moist air and well water.
4. Comfort food! My family has some good cooks, especially my dad and grandma!
5. Visiting with everyone, especially my brothers (they are 16 & 12) who are very entertaining and hilarious :)
Washington definitely has its down-sides, I mean you can't beat the Bay Area weather, but there's something about home ya know? :)
