Eurotrip Part 2: Belgium!

After staying in Paris for a week, we headed to Brussels and stayed there for a couple of days. Our hotel there was amazing!
The square with all of the historical buildings and restaurants/shops was gorgeous and fun to walk around. Specialties there are waffles, chocolate, fries (frites as they call them), and beer. They also are very big on Mussels there. There were so many chocolate shops to choose from we ended up getting a little from 3 different stores; Elisabeth, Neuhaus, and Pierre Marcolini; Elisabeth was the best by far! I'm not sure why Pierre Marcolini is so popular, it wasn't that great and it was pretty expensive! You can get great fries and waffles pretty much anywhere there, and they have two different kinds of waffles, the traditional and the liege, which is smaller and has a sticky coating- they are both delicious! We found this great Italian restaurant while we were there called Pasta Divina; it was so good we went there twice! It's owned by a husband and wife from Italy, and the wife makes the pasta fresh. The place is so popular that you have to make reservations.
There are two statues in Brussels that are very popular, Manneken Pis and Jeanneke Pis; the first is a little boy peeing into a fountain, (whom they dress up sometimes) and the other is a little girl doing the same thing (she is not as well known though).....random but funny!
We also got to tour Gent and Brugge while we were there, which are cute medieval towns about an hour outside Brussels. The buildings were amazing and we got to do a river tour there.
Overall, Belgium is a pretty cool country with lots of good food and scenery, everything is close by and it's only an hour train ride from Paris! :)
